Trebanos 12 Bridgend 12

A Luke Turton try and a last gasp Mathew Edwards try, following an interception, earned Trebanos a draw with Bridgend at Trebanos Park. There were encouraging signs for the coaching team as the players turned in a fine performance against the Premiership outfit, competing well with a very good Bridgend team. Plenty to build on for next week's fixture with Premiership club Bedwas.

Trebanos RFC, 2016/17 West Wales Cup winners

Trebanos RFC's remarkable season came to a successful close as the club secured the West Wales Cup for the first time in its history after a 33-0 victory over Bonymaen in the WWRU Cup Final at Loughor RFC. Less than 48 hours after the Championship playoff second leg win at Kidwelly, a number of first team regulars were given a well deserved rest as the coaching team blooded several members of the club's Youth squad. This proved to be a masterstroke as the youngsters seemed to re-energise the squad, playing crucial roles in a fine win.

Trailing 5-0 to their hosts, Trebanos scored 31 unanswered points to run out 56-23 aggregate winners over a good Kidwelly team, thereby clinching a place in next season's WRU Championship. What an incredible achievement for a young coaching team, and a group of young men who have written their names, forever, into the history of a great little rugby club. The club are also fortunate in having a Chairman, Officers and Committee, who have had the drive to implement the changes that have seen the club progress steadily over the past seven years, augmented by the many volunteers who help tirelessly; thank you all for the tremendous effort and commitment that you have exhibited.
